Pupil testimonials:

See what pupils past and present have to say about my piano lessons.

What adult students say:

"Tim has been my teacher for a number of years, since I retired and decided to learn to play the piano. Getting a teacher was a big step for me. I was nervous and wasn't sure how quickly I'd learn. I was soon put at ease by Tim's calm and reassuring manner. He was able to guide me and to show me how to make progress.

In our lessons he is positive and focused and gives me just the right amount of challenge to work on during the following week. He always aims to get the best from me, and I come away feeling that I can do more.

I'm still just as nervous, every week, when I sit down at his piano but I know that I've made so much progress with him. I enjoy playing the piano and it's an important part of my life now. He is a great teacher and if you have a love and interest in music, and enjoy spending time at the piano, he'll help you to develop and give you the confidence to get better."

What parents say:

"Our son has been learning to play piano with Tim for 8 years, starting when he was 7. Tim has nurtured him from absolute beginner to Grade 8, which he recently passed with Distinction. Tim put him forward for a regional music festival at a young age and he has grown to love playing there every year, winning a cup for his playing, and also receiving first place in his age group on several occasions. His confidence and love of playing has grown year on year under Tim’s teaching, and he wants to continue playing to wider audiences.

Tim has been a constant weekly influence in his musical development and they have shared each other’s tastes in piano music. Tim’s relaxed, flexible attitude, whilst adhering to the highest standards of teaching, has meant that our son’s enjoyment of music has matched his progression."

What young students say:

Mary and Cameron Scott
"Cameron was taught piano and music theory by Tim from age 6 to 11 years. During this time he enjoyed a varied repertoire and advanced through the grades, often performing at the Suffolk Festival.
Cameron, who also plays brass, was accepted as a full member of Aldeburgh Young Musicians in 2012.
Since then while still aged 12 he achieved his Grade 8 with distinction on piano and euphonium."

Cameron says:
“Tim is a great piano teacher for pupils of all ages and abilities. I really benefited from his tuition and he inspired me from a young age. Learning the piano was the start for me of an amazing musical journey. I would thoroughly recommend him.”

What teenage students say:

"I have been having piano lessons with Tim for the past 8 years, starting as a complete beginner when I was 9 years old. In that time, I have progressed to all Grades 1-5 achieving distinctions, and Grade 6 achieving a merit; I am now working towards my Grade 7. I have also been offered the opportunity to perform as part of the Suffolk Festival of Performing Arts on several occasions.

I have always felt that Tim's lessons are relaxed, and free from pressure whilst helpful guidance is always given to help me progress in my playing. Tim has adjusted his teaching as I have progressed to focus on making me a better overall piano player, so I can apply the skills he teaches me when playing other music at home. His friendly, patient manner is ideal to teaching piano; I have found this especially helpful when trying to balance other commitments.
I have truly enjoyed playing piano ever since I started, and I am very grateful to Tim for being so patient, and giving such helpful guidance. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone wishing to learn to play piano."
